Love: Have You Found It?

Wondering why you haven’t found love yet? Pastor Jim explores the some of the possible reasons you haven’t found ‘it’ yet, and what might be standing in your way.

Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places

If you have not found what you are looking for, one strong consideration is that you are looking in the wrong places, or you do not really know what you are looking for love to find it.

This statement certainly applies to many single adults. The journey becomes all about the chase to find a mate and they race past sign upon sign that God is placing in their lives to take them in the direction of joy and love.

Why do we so hastily ignore these signs and continue on a path that continually brings heartache and disappointment?

One reason is arrogance. We become so self consumed that we make it a practice of ignoring others and their offers. We set out to do it our way, or we will not do it at all. Days turn into weeks, into months, and then into years. Closing down and not being open to new ways of seeing and experiencing the world serves to close your world in around you. Soon you can only see a short distance to the outer limits of your space, while only a step or two outside your self-imposed wall lays an unlimited world of possibility.

A book that I recommend often to single adults is “The Art of Possibility” written by Rosamund and Benjamin Zander. It is not a Christian book and I do not recommend every premise, but the impact of the overall book is awesome. It is a MUST read for every single adult in my opinion. It will change your perspective on the world around you and can serve to release you to new ways of experiencing, and enjoying, life.

What Might Be Limiting Your Possibilities?

What is there in your world that you are not seeing from a healthy perspective? What belief or concept is serving to limit your possibilities? Some may try to quickly jump to accepting views outside those provided by God. This is like jumping in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, thousands of miles from shore, and believing that in your possibility search you will stumble onto a safe and beautiful shore. Not!

Christians limit God’s design and desire to move in their lives by the attitudes they self-impose on God – ones that he has nothing to do with and are not part of his plan.

Challenge every one of your beliefs to find which ones really are true and which ones are creations of myth or false hope.

Allowing God To Show You More!

I have found more hope to life in the past 2 years than in the 60+ years before. What made this difference? It was because I chose to make an effort to discern what I really believe, how it shapes my world/experiences, and how I can move in new possibilities that were never in view before. God has opened up new understandings of what he has created within me and shown me what he desires for me to use to move with peace, purpose, and joy. There is a way to move in spite of life’s events that keep you from both going under and moving toward great successes in every area of your life.

When I stopped a language of complaining to accepting responsibility for my lot in life and became aware of what God has created within me to move effectively through life, I have begun to experience emotional, relational, psychological, spiritual, and financial success. It is the total package.

God has a treasure for you. Proverbs 21:20 (Amplified Bible) “There are precious treasures and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a self-confident and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it.” This means that there is an abundance of all things when we seek it in those who have Godly wisdom, and when we follow His wise principles, including when you are looking for love.

You are too valuable to not find the mark that God has created for you to enjoy and experience.
