ASK DR. JIM - CHRISTIAN RELATIONSHIP ADVICE

ARE YOU FINDING WHAT YOU ARE SEEKING?
What are you doing? No, I mean what are you really doing? You are seeking but do you know the principles of seeking? There are 2 sets of rules and your results will be vastly different depending upon which set you choose:

World's: The rule of the world is survival of the fittest. Another one is to the winner goes the spoils. You can often hear that if it feels good for you, do it. The underlying principle that fuels these actions is "take everything you can get!" You never get enough and it is a vicious cycle. Sometimes when you are able to obtain something you are filled with fear that you may lose it by the same rules.

God's: The Biblical principle that applies here is that one must give or serve in order to find joy and peace. The focus is on others and not self-centered. Anxiety is eliminated because one is too occupied serving God and others. Interestingly this is the type of person that draws others to them.

Are your thoughts and actions filled in the pursuit of obtaining something for yourself? You are walking into a trap that has never worked since the beginning of time. Just ask Cain how satisfied he is now with embracing this principle.

Wondering how to open a conversation with someone on the Cafe? Here are some conversation starters ---

  1. If you could live or visit anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
  2. If you couldn't do what you are doing for a living, what else would you do?
  3. What's your favorite word..what's your least favorite word?
  4. Glasses that are not up to date are another turn off.
  5. If you were allowed one question of God, what would it be?
  6. Do you think there is life on other planets?
  7. What might you invent to make your life easier?
  8. What famous person would you like to live as for a day?
  9. If your house were on fire (and you, your family and pets were all out safely) and you could only grab 3 things to take out, what would they be?
  10. "How many pairs of shoes do I own?"
  11. What would be the title of your biography?

Good listeners most often have great conversations!
ChristianCafe.com in the news!
This month (November 3rd) Sam Moorcroft ChristianCafe.com CEO, was interview by KFIZ, Fond du Lac, WI and "Angels on Earth" (A publication of Guidepost). The Jan/Feb issue of "Angels on Earth" will feature a photo of Sam and Pollyanna, and the story of how the Internet brought them together. Tune in again to Backstage Live / News-Talk 1450 KFIZ December 5th when Sam returns for a second interview with Joe Scheibinger KFIZ. The interview will air at 10:10 AM CST. If you are in the listening range of KFIZ remember to tune in.

A little humour:
Crappuccino:A poorly made coffee beverage that cost upwards of four dollars.
Yellular:The loudness one adopts in response to a bad cell-phone connection, in the misguided hope that talking louder will improve the connection. (usage: I'm so embarrassed. I went totally yellular at a restaurant last night.)
