How do I update my profile answers?

There are 3 parts of your profile which you can update:
your personal information (e.g. address), your multiple choice answers and your written answers.
All 3 are accessible via the menu at the top of your page, under the submenu called Profile.

  • To edit your personal information, go to your Profile menu at the top of your page and select Personal Information.
    To save any changes click the "Save Information" button, located at the bottom of that page.
  • To edit your multiple choice questions, go to your Profile menu at the top of your page and select Edit Multiple Choice.
    To save any changes click the "Save my answers" button, located at the bottom of that page.
  • To edit your written answers, go to your Profile menu at the top of your page and select Edit Written Answers.
    To save any changes click the "Save my answers" button, located at the bottom of that page.
Please note that contact information is not permitted in your profile (email address, Web site URL, IM information, phone number, etc.). Paying Members are encouraged to exchange personal email addresses through their Mailboxes.

How do I change my username or password?

To change your username, first go to your Profile menu at the top of your page and select Preferences. You can then click the change your username via your preferences settings page. You can also change your password via the same Preferences page. Passwords are a minimum of 6 characters (letters, numbers and punctuation).

I don't want my city displayed on my profile

You can hide your city via your Preferences page under the Profile menu. The second option allows to hide your city. Be sure to click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page to save any preferences.

Please note that if your city is hidden and you live in either Canada or the US, you will not be included in any postal/zip code searches other members perform. This means members won't know your distance to them (for your privacy). You will still show up in non-distance searches members run.

I don't want to list my birth day

Our system used to list an age range, but due to overwhelming demand we have re-worked the system to allow exact ages. In order to ensure our system update the ages correctly we use your exact birth date. Additionally, we have a birthday list as an ice-breaker for communication.

However it is not critical to list your exact birth day if you are not comfortable displaying this. A number of members simply list their birthday as January 1, which is a way of saying "I am not displaying my true birth day". Please ensure your age is listed correctly on your profile, because it's dishonest to list an incorrect age, even if you look or feel younger/older.

To change your birth day please see your Personal Information option under the Profile menu at the top of your account. Make the birthday change and then click the "Save Information" button.

Other profile changes

Your Preferences page under the Profile menu at the top of your page allows you to control your user experience, including:

Disabling the You've Got Mail notification; preventing members from sending you Winks or Birthday wishes; preventing members from knowing you've viewed their profile or from knowing you've added them as a favorite. Plus, you can prevent others from seeing your Cafe Venue when you're online.

All these features can be turned on again, by going back to your Preferences page.

You can also update your e-mail address, and limit who can find your profile in their search with our profile visibilty filter.
